UNA Glasgow and UNA Scotland are supporting the development of the Scottish Peace Network which was set up to coordinate activities around the WW1 Centenary commemorations and remember the contribution of peace activists in the run up to declaration of war, during and after. CSW March 2014
The 58th Session of the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women was held at the UN in New York from 10-21 March 2014.
Our Convener, Gari Donn, attended the conference as a delegate for Soroptimist International. UNA-UK was represented by its Policy & Advocacy Officer, Hayley Richardson and by Sally Spear, vice-chair of the UNA’s Women’s Advisory Council

Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant

Joint Conference on Nuclear Weapons
A joint conference ‘New International Developments on Nuclear Weapons: Scotland’s Focus’, organised jointly by the GPG on Nuclear Disarmament and UNA Edinburgh will be held on Wednesday 25 June at the Scottish Parliament.
This event will also be in memory of Dr Alec Gaines who had worked for the abolition of nuclear weapons throughout his life.
Speakers include Dr Rebecca Johnson from Acronym. This is a one day event to follow up the previous conferences on Global Zero, Nuclear Non Proliferation and a Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Middle East. It will draw attention to the important role Scotland plays in moving European countries towards Global Zero.
